Focus on Fitness Program

Objectives:

1. Offer the opportunity of an affordable fitness program.

2. Promote health and reduce social isolation.

3. Provide opportunities to make new acquaintances.

4. Learn skills to ensure good physical and mental health.

5. Provide presentations on topics related to physical and mental health.

Participants:

Adults 16 years of age or older living with a severe mental illness or concurrent disorder (combination of mental illness and substance use disorder) and/or are socially isolated.

Partners:

Program in collaboration with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit and subsidized in part by the Ministry of Health Promotion and the Healthy Communities Fund

    

Physical Activity

Walking Club

Outdoor circuits for beginners and regular groups. Program includes a warm-up session, stretching, and a snack. Every participation gives a chance to win the monthly draw.

Other Activities(according to availability)

• Yoga private/beginner
• Wii on the move (Wii console)
• Gym (training and cardio)
• Free healthy lunch for participants

Educational Sessions

Educational sessions are offered by the Eastern Ontario Health Unit. The themes explored pertain to nutrition, food hygiene, quitting smoking.
