Job Description

 

POSITION TITLE:                  Manager of Mental Health Promotion, Peer Resources & Volunteers

REPORTING TO:                  Program Director

BRANCH TEAM:                   Management

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University Degree in one of the Social Services, College Diploma/B.A. in Marketing/Education or a certificate in Fundraising Management, Volunteer Management combined with three years of direct experience in a non-profit, management position, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good working knowledge of mental health and addiction disorders with supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership with successful marketing and communication plans and strategies.
  • Experience in project management, fundraising planning and managing volunteer resources.
  • Demonstrated skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective planning, organizational skills and project management. 
  • Comfort level with public speaking.
  • Advanced language skills in French and English are a requirement.

 

Working Conditions and requirements:

 

  • Must possess a valid Canadian driver’s license, access to a vehicle and minimum of $1,000,000.00 third party liability insurance during the period of employment. Regular travel within the Champlain Region and occasionally outside this catchment area.
  • Ability to work flexible hours with occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • Works mainly at a desk using a computer in an office environment and from time to time with the general public in the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

Oversees and is responsible for the day to day programming activities of the Mental Health Promotion Program, Peer Resources and management of Branch volunteers as established by the Branch.

 

Program

  • Provide timely and informative reports as directed and requested by the Program Director.
  • Interface with community organizations, the media and other stakeholders to promote the agency and develop a positive relationship with the community and participates in community meetings as required.
  • Responsible for adherence to the program budgets and makes budget recommendations to the Program Director.
  • Ensures adequate program records are maintained including the client database.
  • Identify gaps and needed modifications in services and bring these to the attention of the Program Director.
  • To recruit, screen, interview, manage and support program volunteers.
  • Research, develop and submit funding applications to support Branch programs.
  • Oversee and approve mental health promotion materials, workshops and presentations.
  • Oversee, approve, and as required, act as the spoke person for promotional campaigns conducted throughout the year.
  • Oversee and coordinates all aspects of branch’s website and social media platforms while adhering to existing policies.
  • Monitor and evaluate fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved; monitor trends in the community and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary; monitor expenses and analyze budget reports on fund development and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Prepare regular funding proposals and evaluation reports on progress, budgets, as prescribed by funding sources.

 

Supervision of Direct Reports

  • Supervises and evaluates Mental Health Promoters, Resource Centre Facilitators and volunteers.
  • As a resource, facilitates change management and consults for increased organizational effectiveness.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources and Program Director, makes recommendations and reports to the Executive Director relative to matters of hiring, non-disciplinary corrective actions and disciplinary actions with direct reports.
  • Makes recommendations to Human Resources to begin disciplinary actions on direct reports.
  • Acts as staff relief as required.

 

General

  • Active participant in maintaining positive team relations within the staff teams at the Branch.
  • Participates in program development, improvement activities, and staff meetings.
  • Participates in professional development.
  • As part of the Leadership team, inter-departmental coverage is expected from time to time.
  • Provides timely and informative reports as directed and requested by the Program Director.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
